What is IELTS?

IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a globally recognized English proficiency test designed to assess the language ability of individuals who want to study, work, or migrate to countries where English is the primary language of communication.

Test Types

Both modules assess your listening, reading, writing and speaking abilities :

Academic

Purpose: Designed for people who want to study at undergraduate or postgraduate level, or for professional registration (such as doctors and nurses)

General Training

Purpose: To measure English proficiency for everyday practical situations, such as migrating to an English-speaking country or studying at a level below a degree

IELTS Test Results

  • Test Result Is Valid or 2 Years.
  • There Is No Passing or Failing Marks.
  • An Easy to Use 9-Band Scale Clearly Identifies Proficiency Level, From Non-User (Band Score 1) to Expert (Band Score 9).
  • Computer-Based IELTS typically provides results within 2-5 days and Paper-Based IELTS results are usually available after 13 days.

Difference Between Academic & General Training Reading Test

Academic Reading Test :
  • 3 Paragraphs
  • Authentic Text And Taken Forn Books, Journals, Magazines, And Newspaper Articles
  • 3 Paragraphs With An Overall Text Length Of 2,150-2,750 Word’s
  • May Contain Non-Verbal Materials Such As Diagrams And Articles
General Training Reading Test :
  • Section 1 Comprises 2 Or 3 Factual Texts. Topics Are Related to Everyday Life in an English-Speaking Country
  • Section 2 Holds Two Factual Texts Focusing On Work Related Issues.
  • Section 3 Contains One Longer, More Intricate Text On a Topics Of General Interest.
  • Text Are Authentic Taken From Notices, Ads, Company Handbook, Books, Magazines,Newspaper And Official Document,

Writing Test

  • Duration : 60 Minutes
  • Tasks: 2 (You should spend about 20 minutes on Task 1 and about 40 minutes on Task 2. Task 2 is worth twice the marks as Task 1).
  • No.Of Words :
  • Task 2: You must write at least 150 words
  • Task 2: You must write at least 250 words

Difference Between Academic & General Training Writing Test

Academic Writing Test :
  • Task 1 : Presents a Table, Graph(Line/Bar), Chart(Pie/Flow), Map, Diagram ETC.
  • Candidate will define in own words, information contained in graphs, diagrams, tables and charts.
  • Task 2 : Essay writing in response to a topic which is presented as a point of view, argument or a problem.
  • Response for both task should be written in a formal style.
General Training Writing Test :
  • Task 1 : Letter writing in response to an everyday situation or problem . the letter maybe personal, semi-formal or formal in style.
  • Task 2 : essay writing in response to a point of view, argument or problem. the essay can be slightly more personal in style than academic.

SPEAKING TEST

The Speaking for General & Academic are the Same :

  • Timing : 11-14 Minutes
  • Task: Face to face interview with the Examiner. Speaking test is recorded.
  • Parts: 3 parts
  • Part-1: 4-5 minutes (Introduction)
  • Part-2: 2-3 minutes (Cue Cards)
  • Part-3: 4-5 minutes (Discussion)
